Dune grasses above the beach at the Alberoni nature reserve

Alberoni Dunes & Golf

The Lido’s wild southern tip

The southern end of the Lido is a different world from the Gran Viale. Past Malamocco the houses thin out, pinewoods appear and the island ends at the Alberoni, where a protected system of coastal dunes — managed as a nature reserve with the WWF — backs one of the wildest beaches in the Venice area.

Behind the dunes lies the Circolo Golf Venezia, an 18-hole course founded in 1928 among the pines and the old fortifications. From the Alberoni landing stage, line 11’s ferry crosses the Malamocco inlet to Pellestrina.

Top things to do at Alberoni Dunes & Golf

Walk the dunes

Marked paths cross the reserve to the sea. Stay on them: the dune vegetation is fragile and home to rare coastal plants and nesting birds.

Spend a day on the Alberoni beach

The free beach here is wide and far quieter than the central Lido. There are few services, so bring water and shade.

Play a round of golf

The Circolo Golf Venezia welcomes visiting players with a handicap certificate; book tee times directly with the club.
